Electronic Format Documents V3.0

AIA Introduces Revamped Contract Documents Software
New EF V3.0 Offers Enhanced Functionality and Flexible Pricing Options
American Institute of Architects

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has announced the availability of EF V3.0, a thoroughly revamped version of its electronic-format contract documents software. The new EF V3.0, which includes new features designed to help lower project costs and expand business opportunities, is backed by an unconditional 90-day full refund guarantee.

The consumer-tested new EF V3.0 promises a significantly improved user experience. One of the key new features lets users work on several documents at the same time, speeding project paperwork. Other improvements include easy customization of documents, enhanced navigation tools, and a new meter-based pricing option.

EF V3.0 was independently beta tested by a comprehensive cross-section of active members of the building trades and design professions. Beta testers included both users and nonusers of prior versions of the AIA's electronic-format software.

"The new EF VR.0 is much more than a simple software upgrade," said AIA Executive Vice President/CEO Norman L. Koonce, FAIA. "We took the comments and criticisms of our EF users to heart and created an entirely reliable new contracting tool to help architects, engineers, builders, and owners work more efficiently. Design and building professionals will find EF VR.0 an essential asset in helping them to structure and manage their business relationships in the 21st century.

The new EF V3.0 includes current forms and editions for more than 75 AIA standard form contract documents, recognized as the design and construction industry benchmark for legal agreements. Features available with EF V3.0 include the ability to:

Open multiple documents to speed project paperwork
Transfer documents via email with other EF users
Customize footers—up to 40 characters
Add additional formatting options for custom text
Specify the folders and/or directory for documents
Print an unlimited number of drafts
Navigate faster with new program toolbar/icon capabilities
Quickly access context-sensitive help.

A new flexible pricing structure incorporated into EF V3.0 allows users to purchase documents only as needed. The meter-based option works like a postage meter, charging an account only when a final version of a contract document is printed. High-volume users may purchase an annual license option that allows unlimited access and printing of contract documents. Users may switch their pricing options at any time.

About the AIA Contract Documents
A mission of the AIA is to coordinate the building industry, empower its members and those with whom they work, and inspire creation of a better built environment. The AIA contract documents serve as one embodiment of that mission.

The AIA has published standardized contract forms for more than 100 years. During that time, owners, architects, contractors, attorneys, insurance experts, and many others have contributed to the development and revision of AIA documents. Today, AIA documents enjoy a wide reputation for fairness to all parties and are accepted by the construction industry for use in writing and administering project agreements.
