2005 AIA Michigan Design Honor Award

Malletts Creek Branch Library
Ann Arbor, MI

Jury Comment:
Although not new, the jury admired the sectional diagrams of day lighting, passive solar heating and natural ventilation. The interiors demonstrate how wonderfully playful sustainability can be.

The jury also praised the natural site water treatment of parking run-off. The jury was a little disappointed by the heavy treatment of metal roof overhangs.

The sustainability ideas/concepts are very well thought out. The natural use of materials, combined with the natural lighting really makes this a special place. It's more about the interior space than anything else.
