Michigan, AIA after an architects name means
that this person is an honorable member of the American Institute of
Architects. It is a proud tradition and it will become more important as
we move into the 21st Century.
AIA Michigan is a full-service distributor of Contract Documents, available at special prices to members. A resource library of building codes is retained in the Beaubien House through the AIA Detroit Building Codes and Regulations Committee.The newsletter Bulletin has been a vehicle for internal communication since 1923 and it is mailed to all members. The AIA Profile Directory of architectural firms and architects nationwide is available at the Beaubien House.AIA Michigan keeps resumes on file and publishes want ads in the newsletter for architects seeking job opportunities. Firms and individuals calling AIA Michigan in search of an architect are handled on an individual basis. PLACEMAKERS is sent to them as a resource for licensed architects. In addition, this referral list is found on the web at AIAMI.COM. see Placemakers below.In Michigan, special group rates on homeowners and auto insurance are available through Michigan Benefit Plans, Inc., and a cellular savings program is offered through Cellnet Cellular. Information is available on the AIA Benefit Trust and professional liability insurance as well. It is mailed in response to requests for referral of an architect that come into AIA Michigan Headquarters from the general public. AIAMI.COM contains most of the information that is in the directory and includes photos of the most recent design awards, a listing of the members and their firms and information on upcoming programs. AIA contract documents can also be ordered on the WEB.
